Colorado Trip in August

I spent the first two weeks of August working in Colorado. There were many images created for different clients, these are a few and even a personal one or two. I photographed humming birds and some butterflies along with people. Just a few to share this time.

Visit to the zoo

As I have said before, time does fly. I spent some time yesterday with my grandson. He has grown a lot in just a few months, what a joy!

I am headed out to Colorado to do some work and a workshop. I enjoy photography with a passion and try to go out to photograph anything of God’s creation even the animals held in a zoo. They can be expressive as well as beautiful. Here are a few images I took while spending about 45 minutes with a friend who had just purchased a new lens that I have had for about a year. We were shooting to help her learn about the big differences shooting with a big lens can have.

Here are a few of my images, they are pretty easy to figure out what they are. Hope you enjoy them. Take care and God’s blessings to you.

Life is good!

WOW, Does time fly by! I had promised myself that I would post something more often than I have but like life there are many unexpected thing that happen along the way and we just can’t do all we would like to accomplish. Such has been my life these last few months.

Many exciting things are happening and have happened with a few difficulties thrown in there. Taking the good and bad as a whole and moving forward is always the way I have tried to live and I love living my life to the fullest and encouraging others to let God have control by acknowledging Him in all things and then enjoy how it all fits together to make up a lifetime.

I will be headed out after a shoot in Oklahoma City for the mountains in Montana to photograph those wonderful mustangs who have captured my heart and soul. As I share images with others and the experiences of being there having horses come and share a part of their heart as they seem to penetrate through the lens deeply within my heart that someone needs to share their real story.

Horses have thought me a lot about myself and about who I am in the mist we call life. It is honestly difficult to see or to comprehend all we have about us. The images I want to share are not of horses this time but help to share about time, life beauty and just shear joy that being alive with all the beauty in a difficult world we live in. We have not been forgotten but now and then we are given a taste of heaven through seeing something with an eye and heart that gives understanding to life itself.

The first image is of an old truck, rusted, tires flat, probably has been a long time since it could actually go anywhere without being towed. Sometimes I feel that way myself but always to now the feet are reminded by my heart that the journey may only be beginning and they have to move to go on into it. Like this old truck if it could speak, what would the stories it would share of the good old glory days and the families that it shared.

Seeing something like that reminds me of my family and the life I have had to now. As I am reminded, with wonderful memories I do see that God’s hand was always there bringing me a peace now days that is so wonderful words can’t describe. One time a friend asked me why are you so peaceful? My response was that not to many years ago, I realized that I wasn’t in control but God truly was. Letting go of trying to do and make things happen helped me to just enjoy all that is. There will be good and bad happen to us all the time but the reality if we will acknowledge God, He delights in directing our path and that brings peace beyond circumstances into a peace that only He can give us.

The second image is a photo that I took several weeks ago in Arizona for a friend and client. At times there are moments in life so wonderful to experience that words just can’t express. As a photographer, it is not talent or the technical things that make moments what they are but the gift of the moment to me by God allowing me even be a part of. I have created many images but some are truly a gift and I know the moment I shoot it when it happens even when I see in the viewfinder and am shooting 8 frames a second. When those special moments happen, I always have to stop and look at the image as I know something wonderful has occurred.

This image is one of a dad and his two daughters. Just for those moms out there who will read this I have to explain with all your mothering talents, only a dad can realize how a man feels about his children especially his daughters who own his heart as much as can be owned. This image shows so much of that even though there isn’t a lot of detail to see in the eyes or faces but the body language, every part that is visible expresses both a dad and his daughters love in a way that took hold of my heart.

Go out and see the beauty of the world, let your heart be filled. There is a lot of ugly in the world too and it will drag you down to the pit if you refuse to acknowledge the simple things and beauty you time here brings. God bless you all with moments you see His hand in the flash of a moment as it passes before your eyes. Life is good………

"Ole Warrior"

This is an image I took in 2004 of an older Mustang Stallion that had been through a fierce battle and had lost his herd probably. He looked too old to have been trying to steal a band. These were a part of my thoughts about the encounter as it gave me a different prospective and began the passion.

Please feel free to share your thoughts in response. We are losing the wild horses of the west………soon, there will be no “Old Warriors” left, could that be the ways of us all?

I am not a religious person but a man of deep faith in God as these were such awesome moments and days that it has changed my life and way of seeing as well as photographing those things I see.

Ole Man!

Much like the old Warrior,
Yes I see you there standing
All battered and bruised
From the days of great battle
Defending life and all it means
Yes it’s been a struggle for survival
Yet, there you STAND with dignity
With a heart filled with pride
Having kept your freedom
Knowing the heritage you’re
Passing along.
Do stand there proud Ole Warrior,
Yes your beauty is still there I see!
May God grant you green lush meadows
With crystal clear fresh streams
Along with peace that forever brings
You're heart freedom as you stand, just to BE!
And thank you ole man for posing this day for me
As you stood looking straight at me,
Our eyes met, I could see
With my own heart pounding
I knew that all life was a journey
Not made easy by circumstance
But filled with joy as we both know
Dreams do come true.
Yes when I realized it was you running leading
The young colt,
Teaching him the way
You made my day one I will never forget
You know, you helped me to see
Yeah, we both still have it….
Yes, it is called HEART!
We don’t shrink back from life’s battles!
We take the lead!
Thank you for showing me the way
I should go, yes thank you for showing
Me how to be JUST ME!
Yes others want more of us than we can ever give
Expectations are often greater that we are
Yet we do our best and then we have to let go
Giving it all to God as He is the one in control
Reconciled in Him, we can just be
The part of creation He formed us to BE!
Stand tall, run fast,
One day these battles will be over
Where our hearts will be free to LOVE
the way it was meant to BE!
Let faith be our guide
And love feel our hearts
All things will work together
For all to see,
The light reflected in you and me!
Yes ole Warrior, you have graced my heart
So deeply that I will never forget,
Our purpose is to share
